I am back in Australia after a fascinating trip to Japan and the 49th Shizuoka Hobby Show 2010, so we will resume normal programming. I will be posting a bunch of photos taken at Shizuoka on Friday though. Meanwhile...

  • Our final Testor's ScaleWorkshop video from the Shizuoka Hobby Show 2010 reports on the new and forthcoming military models on display. By the way, in Saturday's video I incorrectly described the CyberHobby Meteor Mk.3 as a Mk.8, and the Hasegawa Ju 188 as a Ju 88. Slip of the tongue - sorry about that!

  • Today on Testor's ScaleWorkshop, we have a video report on the new and forthcoming aircraft on display at the 49th Shizuoka Hobby Show 2010. Highlights include the Kinetic Prowler in 1/48 scale and F-16I in 1/72, Hasegawa's 1/32 scale Bf 109 F-4 and CyberHobby's 1/72 scale Meteor Mk.8.

  • Testor's ScaleWorkshop presents a short video of the opening ceremony at the 49th Shizuoka Hobby Show 2010. We'll be bringing you videos covering new and forthcoming releases of aircraft models and military vehicles over the next few days, but some of the interesting new items have included a new-tool 1/72 scale Meteor Mk.8 from Dragon, EA-6B and eight-bladed E-2C Hawkeye in 1/48 scale and F-16I in 1/72 scale from Kinetic, Hasegawa's 1/32 scale Bf 109 F-4/Trop, an all-new 1/35 scale M7 Priest from Dragon (who also had a nice new 1/35 scale Jagdpanther with Zimmerit), two new six-wheeled Japanese trucks from Fine Molds (Fine Molds is also releasing a 1/12 scale WWII metal milling machine!), a 1/35 scale late Panzer IV Ausf. H with zimmerit, and several big ship releases from Dragon including a 1/350 scale Scharnhorst and USS Pennsylvania. More on these in the coming days.

  • Yesterday was spent at Tamiya's Shizuoka Headquarters, where a briefing was being held about forthcoming releases. Tonight, our new Testor's ScaleWorkshop video describes Tamiya's aircraft and military releases due in the coming months, I would like to express my appreciation to Tamiya for their hospitality. The 49th Annual Shizuoka Hobby Show starts today, so we will have more news for you as it comes to hand.

I arrived in Japan last night and travelled to a hotel in Tokyo. I am due to catch the Bullet Train to Shizuoka later today. Still time for a HyperScale update though!

10 May, 2010

I am finishing off this update in the departure lounge of Cairns Airport, part way on my journey to Japan to attend the 49th Shizuoka Hobby Show. We will be bringing you news and images of new and forthcoming releases direct from the show later in the week. Sayonara for now!

  • Sorry about the lack of updates over the last few days. I have been laid up with the flu, followed by an even more irritating allergic reaction to the medication. I expect that regular updates will resume in the coming days.

We have a new topic on Theme Pics - Modelling Disasters. Show us the models that did not quite turn out the way that you hoped. They might be finished, or they might be permanently stalled and stored in a dark palce. Regardless, drag out those plastic 3D horror stories and share them with your fellow modellers!

If anyone has had trouble sending mail to my btgreen@optusnet.com.au address in the last ten days or so, the problem has now been fixed. Please note that I have not received any new messages on that address since around 4 April.
