Landing Gear and Flaps

Landing flaps ("Landeklappen") were electrically actuated and had three settings: Full (for landing, ~60 degrees), Takeoff (~10 degrees) and Retracted. The position of the flaps could be determined by which button had been depressed or by visually inspecting the flap indicators located in front of the leading edge of the flap on the wing. The landing gear ("Rollwerk") was also electrically operated. The retraction switch was protected by a safety cover and a warning message "Never switch on the ground".
